Senators Probe Greenwich-Based XPO Over Pregnant Workers

Some women alleged that they were mistreated while pregnant and working at a shipping warehouse.

GREENWICH, CT — Greenwich-based XPO Logistics is being investigated by several senators after a New York Times report detailed how several women at a Memphis warehouse that processes phone shipments suffered miscarriages.

U.S. Sen. Richard Blumenthal and eight other senators wrote a letter to the company asking it about its practices regarding pregnant women and if they are provided accommodations.

The New York Times found four women suffered miscarriages while employed at the warehouse in 2014 when it was owned by New Breed Logistics, but two other women have suffered miscarriages since XPO bought New Breed and the warehouse. One woman said her supervisor had her lift the heaviest boxes in the warehouse, which were up to 45 pounds.
