Sex Offender Arrested in Greenwich for Not Registering: PD

The man had been staying a hotel for about 30 days, police said. He is from California.

Greenwich, CT — A man who was allegedly staying at the Hyatt Hotel on East Putnam Avenue for about 30 days was arrested by police after he failed to register in the state, according to police.

Police got a call from an employee at the hotel who said that Mark Cunniffe, 58, of Oxnard, California, was a registered sex offender and had been staying at the hotel for about 30 days.

Cunniffe didn't check in with the Greenwich Police Department, according to police.

Cunniffe was placed under arrest after police found him at the hotel and was charged with failure to register, police said.

He was convicted of a sexual battery charge in California, according to the state's sex offender registry.
