Sidewalk For Old Greenwich's Harding Road? Legislator Asks For It

State Rep. Mike Bocchino (R-150th) is pushing for a sidewalk along the busy road near the Eastern Greenwich Civic Center.

GREENWICH, CT — State Rep. Mike Bocchino (R-150th) is pushing for a new sidewalk along a portion of Harding Road in Old Greenwich, a busy section of road near the Eastern Greenwich Civic Center.

He recently made his case in an email and video to constituents, stressing that it would give residents a safe way to get to the civic center and enjoy all that the facility offers.

Bocchino has met with town officials about the issue, and those officials agreed to revisit it, but with budgetary and other concerns locally, there are no guarantees that one will be built anytime soon, writes the Greenwich Time.

Below is Bocchino's email and video:

Dear Friends and Neighbors,
In 2010, the Selectmen's Pedestrian and Safety Advisory Board submitted its recommendation to the Board of Selectmen regarding potential sidewalk and crosswalk improvements along with potential construction of new sidewalks.
Unfortunately, a section of Harding Road was mistakenly omitted. This section runs from the intersection of Brown House Road to the Eastern Greenwich Civic Center.
As state representative for this section of Greenwich, I met with town officials in hopes of having this sidewalk installed. If the project moves forward, the sidewalk would provide our residents, especially children and seniors, with safe access to the civic center.
