Connecticut Weather Forecast: Snow May Impact Friday Commute, Bitterly Cold Weather This Weekend
Winter has definitely returned with some snow, freezing temps and a wind chill factor below zero at times this weekend. Here's the latest.

It appears winter is returning, at least for a three-day engagement in Connecticut, and it will get going with some snow showers and localized snow squalls that could impact the evening commute, which led to the issuance of a Hazardous Weather Outlook for the state.
The National Weather Service says snow showers and snow squalls are expected later Friday afternoon and into the early evening. The snow will be accompanied by strong winds, possibly gusting to 40 mph, and whatever does fall in the form of snow will likely freeze on contact as temps plummet throughout the day.
The Weather Service stresses that some areas will see brief periods of heavy snow and some areas won’t get anything. But the one thing we’ll all see is strong winds and freezing temps, which will continue into the weekend and only get worse. In some isolated areas a brief heavy burst of snow could drop up to an inch of snow. Other areas that see snow can expect a coating of snow Friday.

The National Weather Service says there is also a “moderate risk” that Wind Chill Advisories will be needed Saturday night into early Sunday morning for parts of northern Connecticut as wind chills could approach 15 below zero.
NBC Connecticut Meteorologist Ryan Hanrahan wrote, “watch out for a few snow squalls for the late afternoon and early evening. A quick coating of snow is possible in some towns along with gusty winds.”

NBC Connecticut Meteorologist Darren Sweeney added “The weather issue for today are some squalls toward the evening commute,” and he added, “an arctic front will bring us back to winter (big time) as we head into the weekend.”
And continuing the theme of just how cold it will be this weekend, WTNH News 8 Meteorologist Kevin Arnone writes, “an Arctic cold front will not only bring snow squalls this PM but gusty winds, colder temps & brutal wind chills for the weekend as well.”
