State Police Release Memorial Day Traffic Enforcement Numbers

Police responded to more than 400 accidents with some fatalities over Memorial Day weekend.

State Police had their hands full over Memorial Day weekend after they responded to more than 400 accidents.

Troopers used traditional and non-traditional patrol cars and focused on speeders, distracted drivers, reckless drivers, seat belt violations and intoxicated motorists, said Trooper First Class Kelly Grant, police spokesman.

The following stats are from 12:01 a.m. on May 26, 2016 to 11:59 p.m. on May 30, 2016:

Seatbelt: 903
Hazardous Moving Violations: 4111 (These include unsafe lane change, following too closely, cellphone/texting, etc.)
DWI Arrests: 51

Crashes:
Investigated: 447
With injury: 74
Fatal: 2
