State Rep. Steve Meskers Appointed House Chair Of Commerce Committee
Meskers was reelected to serve the 150th House District, which covers Greenwich's shoreline, in November.
GREENWICH, CT — Speaker Matt Ritter and Majority Leader Jason Rojas on Thursday appointed Rep. Steve Meskers (D-150), of Greenwich, as House Chair of the Commerce Committee.
"I am honored and excited to be appointed Chair of the Commerce Committee and am looking forward to working with the administration and furthering its pro-business agenda," Meskers said in a news release. "I thank Speaker Ritter and Majority Leader Rojas for placing their confidence in me to lead this committee."
Ritter said Meskers' career in finance and his "overall dedication to policies that improve the state’s economy make him a great choice to lead the Commerce Committee."

"This committee is focused on business development and growth, two issues that Steve is passionate about," Ritter added.
Rojas said Meskers has been focused on business climate and economic growth since he was first elected to the legislature in 2018. The two also served together on the House Finance Committee.

Meskers' district covers the Greenwich shoreline. He was reelected in 2020, and most recently defeated Republican challenger Ed Lopez last month to secure a third term in office.
