Suspect Disguised Drugs As Popular Kids Candy, Greenwich Cops Say

The arrest occurred Saturday night in Byram.

GREENWICH, CT — A 48-year-old Meriden man was arrested on narcotics charges Saturday night after police pulled over the vehicle he was riding in and found tabs of the drug acid inside the vehicle that had been disguised as Sweet Tarts candy, according to Greenwich police.

Scott C. Kaiser, of Wilcox Avenue, was arrested at about 8:30 p.m. near Byram Park after a Greenwich police officers on patrol saw him riding in a vehicle that lacked a front plate.

Officers pulled over the vehicle and during the traffic stop, an police dog brought to the scene detected the presence of narcotics inside the vehicle.

"A search of the vehicle revealed 21 acid tabs disguised as Sweet Tarts candy, as well as 22 ghost-shaped MDMA pills to be located in the vicinity of the front passenger seat," stated Greenwich police. "The passenger, Scott Kaiser, admitted that both substances are his and are in fact 'acid' and 'molly.'"

Kaiser was taken into custody and charged with illegal manufacturing, distribution and sale of prescription drugs, and non-standard drugs near a school.

He was released after posting a $300 bond and is scheduled to appear in Stamford Superior Court on June 3.
