Tax Increase Possible In Greenwich After Committee 'OK': Report
Town officials are at the beginning of the 2019-20 budgeting process.

GREENWICH, CT — The Greenwich mill rate could climb by more than 3 percent next year, after the Board of Estimate & Taxation's Budget Committee gave tacit approval of the possibility Monday, reports the Greenwich Time.
Committee members gave guidance that the tax rate could increase by 2.25 to 3.25 percent, and the full fiscal board is scheduled to vote on the recommendation this evening, Oct. 23. That meeting is scheduled for 6:30 p.m. in Town Hall, and the town's 2019-2020 budget will not be finalized until the spring.
Under the recommendation, next year's schools budget would not rise by more than 2 percent, while the town's budget would not rise by more than 1 percent. Additionally, next year's town/schools budget could be reduced to help stave off increases.
