The drug overdose epidemic in the United States is a clear and present public health, public safety, and national security threat. The DEA’s National Prescription Drug Take Back Day reflects the DEA’s commitment to Americans’ safety and health, encouraging the public to remove unneeded medications from their homes to prevent medication misuse and opioid addiction from ever starting.

GPD was one of the first police departments in Connecticut to take part in the DEA's drug disposal bin. This drug disposal bin has been in our headquarters for the past twelve years and enables residents to dispose of unwanted medications year-round and 24 hours a day. The Greenwich Police Department has participated in the DEA annual drug take-back event for many years and is happy to continue this partnership with the DEA.

Our Town of Greenwich partner on October 28 is Greenwich Together. The mission of Greenwich Together is to mobilize youth, parents, and community partners to prevent substance misuse, promote behavioral and mental health, and strengthen healthy choices through positive youth, family, and community development.
