Greenwich Urges Residents To Prepare For Possible Hurricane Lee Impacts

GREENWICH, CT — The town of Greenwich is warning residents to be ready in case of impact from Hurricane Lee.

Town Emergency Management Director Joseph Laucella said that while indications are the storm will pass by Connecticut in the Atlantic Ocean, it is too soon to tell what the exact location will be yet and Greenwich and the surrounding area may see some effects.

"Our Emergency Management team has been monitoring Lee since last week and will continue to monitor," Laucella said in a news release. "Residents should remain vigilant and are reminded to have an emergency plan, make an emergency kit, and register for Greenwich emergency alerts at greeenwichalerts.org."

The Town is warning boaters to check on their vessels.

According to the Department of Parks and Recreation’s Marine Division, boaters should check to make sure their vessels are secured prior to the storm and make all necessary arrangements. The storm could potentially bring heavy wind, rain and storm surges to Greenwich.

Boaters should be prepared to use proper and/or additional lines to secure their vessels, to check on the conditions of the batteries and bilge pumps in their vessels, to remove loose gear and potentially haul their vessels if necessary.

If there is an impact from the storm, boaters should also make sure to check on their vessels afterward and attend to them as needed.

Any updates on the potential impact of the storm will be issued by the Office of the First Selectmen and through www.greenwichalerts.org.
