GREENWICH, CT — A trio of New Yorkers were arrested by Greenwich police on larceny and related charges over the weekend after they attempted to buy nearly $3,000 worth of items from a Greenwich Avenue retailer using a fraudulent credit card, according to authorities.

The incident occurred Saturday at about 5:20 p.m. when Greenwich police were called to the unnamed store on a report of the attempted scam.

Two of the suspects, Dwayne M. Powell, 23, of Brooklyn, and Kimaley O. Barrett, 24, also of Brooklyn, were apprehended as they were exiting the store. The credit card Barrett had used had his name on it, but belonged to someone else's account, police said, which caught the eye of store security.
