Trump Communications Director Hope Hicks Resigns: NY Times

The Times writes that the Greenwich native is set to leave the White House within a few weeks.

GREENWICH, CT — Hope Hicks, the Greenwich native and longtime aide to President Donald Trump, will resign as White House Communications Director within the next few weeks, reports The New York Times.

Hicks' tenure in Trump's orbit dates back to the campaign, and she was the third person to hold the title of Communications Director. She grew up in Greenwich and is a 2006 graduate of Greenwich High School.

On Monday, Hicks testified for nine hours before the House Intelligence Committee on Russian meddling in the 2016 election, admitting to providing some falsehoods in her role as Communications Director. She said, however, that she never lied about anything involving Russian meddling.

The Times writes that she had considered leaving the post over the past several months, and sources told the publication that her resignation was not related to the Russia investigation.

In a statement to The Times, Trump praised Hicks as "smart" and "thoughtful," adding that he expects to work with her again the future.
