President Trump Endorses Stefanowski For CT Governor

"It is about time that Connecticut had a real and talented Governor," Trump tweeted in his endorsement of Bob Stefanowski.

HARTFORD, CT — President Donald Trump endorsed Republican nominee for Connecticut governor Bob Stefanowski in a Wednesday morning tweet.

"It is about time that Connecticut had a real and talented Governor," Trump tweeted. "Bob Stefanowski is the person needed to do the job. Tough on crime, Bob is also a big cutter of Taxes. He will win in November and make a Great Governor, a major difference maker. Bob has my total Endorsement!"

Trump made a couple of Connecticut stops on the campaign trail in 2016. He criticized Gov. Dannel Malloy when it came to GE moving out of state to neighboring Massachusetts.

Stefanowski is a businessman and newcomer to politics. He bested four other Republicans in a strong showing to clinch the nomination Tuesday. He will face off against Democratic nominee Ned Lamont in November.

Trump's policies and Gov. Dannel Malloy's unpopularity are sure to play a part in the November elections.

Lamont was quick to respond to Trump's endorsement.
