Trump Nominates Greenwich Banker And Former Marine To Pentagon Position: Report

A publication once referred to him as the "most badass banker on Wall Street."

GREENWICH, CT — Owen West, a 47-year-old Greenwich resident, investment banker and retired Marine infantry platoon commander, has been nominated as a top adviser for Defense Secretary James Mattis, concentrating on special operations and low-intensity conflict, reports the Hartford Courant.

West was deployed in Iraq twice, and he was a partner at Goldman Sachs. In a 2012 profile, the publication Business Insider referred to him as the "most badass banker on Wall Street."

He has also written three books, "Sharkman Six," "Four Days to Veracruz" and "The Snake Eaters: Counterinsurgency Advisors in Combat."

If confirmed, he will advise Mattis on unconventional warfare, special reconnaissance and counterterrorism, according to the Courant.
