UConn Basketball Legends Coming To Greenwich

GREENWICH, CT — Several UConn basketball legends are coming to Greenwich to benefit the next generation of student-athletes.

The inaugural UConn Legends Golf Tournament will take place on Monday, July 22 at Greenwich Country Club. Basketball fans and golfers will join Huskies legends including Ray Allen, Scott Burrell, Jim Calhoun, Jeff Calhoun, Kevin Freeman, Rudy Gay, Rashamel Jones, Oliver Macklin, Donny Marshall and Tom Moore to support Bleeding Blue For Good and its partner charities.

The event is co-chaired by Greenwich natives and UConn alumni athletes Mike Burton and Karen Hopp.

Bleeding Blue for Good empowers the next generation of UConn student-athletes and provides an avenue for impactful NIL (name, image and likeness) opportunities by helping UConn student-athletes use their influence to assist other nonprofit organizations and serve as role models.

"We know how much affinity there is for the Huskies in this area. This event supports the student-athletes as directly as possible while bringing together fans and UConn legends in Greenwich," said John Malfettone, president and co-founder of Bleeding Blue For Good, in a news release.

Registration and warm-ups begin at 10 a.m. on July 22, followed by lunch and a 1 p.m. shotgun start.

Non-golfers are welcome to join for the cocktail and dinner reception following play where auction items will include priceless UConn basketball experiences such as the opportunity to travel with the back-to-back National Championship Huskies for a road game.
