GREENWICH, CT — The Friends of Greenwich Point are holding two vine-cutting events at the beach in the next week, and volunteers are needed, according to First Selectman Fred Camillo.

Volunteers will gather to cut invasive vines off of trees on Feb. 23 and Feb. 25 from 10 a.m., to noon. Anyone who wishes to participate can email FOGPvolunteer@gmail.com.

People should bring gloves and wear long clothes. Clippers and loppers will be available, but people can also bring their own.

Camillo noted in his weekly newsletter that the removal of invasive vines every winter has saved hundreds of trees from being covered and eventually killed.
