Wanted NY Man Leads Greenwich Police On Car, Foot Chase
The incident started on Greenwich Avenue, according to authorities.

GREENWICH, CT — A 24-year-old New York City man, who Greenwich authorities said was wanted in New York on a probation violation charge, led police on a car and foot chase on May 24 on Greenwich Avenue and nearby streets.
The incident began in the evening when Novashawn C. Bannister was spotted driving erratically in a 2017 Kia Forte by Greenwich police on Greenwich Avenue.
When officers tried to pull him over, Bannister sped off with officers in pursuit, according to police.

"The Kia traveled several blocks before suddenly stopping," stated Greenwich police. "[Bannister] then exited the vehicle and fled on foot."
Following a foot chase, Bannister was apprehended. Officers subsequently discovered that there was an extraditable warrant for Bannister's arrest out of New York. The nature of the probation violation was not disclosed.

Greenwich police charged Bannister with the following:
- Reckless driving
- Engaging police in pursuit
- Failure to drive in the proper lane
- Operating a motor vehicle at a slow speed
- Interfering with an officer
- Operating a motor vehicle without a license
- Failure to comply with state traffic control sign
He was held in lieu of bail of $50,000 and is scheduled to appear in Stamford Superior Court on June 7.
