Waste Free Greenwich To Host Waste Fair May 7

The fair will be an engaging, family-friendly event that explores creative ways to "rethink" waste.

GREENWICH, CT — Waste Free Greenwich will host a ReThink Waste Fair on May 7 at Christ Church Parish Hall from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. The church is located at 254 E. Putnam Ave.

The fair will be an engaging, family-friendly event that explores creative ways to "rethink" waste through the 6 Rs: Refuse, Reduce, Reuse, Repair, Recycle and Rot. Activities will include a free vintage clothing boutique, composting demo, sewing repair workshop, kids recycled art project, cooking demo and more.

The fair will also have several collection areas for those hard to recycle items, like electronics, batteries, corks and textiles. Community members are encouraged to start collecting their items, bring them to the fair, and stay for the fun.

Several local community partners will be in attendance to share practical tips for ways to reduce what gets put into the waste stream.

"We know that disposing of waste can be costly, both in terms of taxpayer dollars and the adverse health impacts on our environment," said Waste Free Greenwich founder, Julie DesChamps. "We are excited to bring our local community together for a day of fun, giving back through donations of used items, and learning practical ways we can make a difference."
