Water Infrastructure Project Underway In Greenwich

GREENWICH, CT — A water main replacement project in Greenwich on Oval Avenue and Summit Road is underway. Work is expected to be completed by October 2023, according to a news release from Aquarion Water Company.

The project, which calls for the replacement of approximately 4,800 feet of water main, is part of an ongoing program to improve Aquarion’s water distribution system and to ensure the highest quality water, the company said.

The infrastructure upgrades will also help to reduce leaks and water main breaks that can cause service interruptions.

"We greatly appreciate Greenwich residents’ patience during these projects," said Justin Xenelis, Aquarion’s manager of utility programs, in a news release. "We will work closely with our customers, contractors, and town officials to coordinate the work and minimize any disruptions."

Due to construction, customers should expect minor traffic delays and possible detours during the working hours of 7 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Westport-based AJ Penna will be serving as the contractor for the water main replacement project.

The Greenwich Board of Selectmen on Thursday is scheduled to consider and possibly vote on a request for road closures and detours associated with another water main project along Greenwich Avenue.
