Whitby School Ranks #1 in Fairfield at AMC 8 Competition
In the students' first year competing, the team's cumulative score gave them the #1 ranking in Fairfield and #4 statewide.

For more than 60 years, the Mathematical Association of America (MAA) has been organizing various math programs in the hope that all secondary students will have an opportunity to participate in these problem solving and enriching mathematics experiences.
This past November, Whitby School’s Mathcounts team stepped up to the challenge and participated for the first time ever in the AMC 8 (American Math Competition).
Students taking this test have 25 minutes to complete 40 multiple-choice questions. For this test, knowledge as well as speed and accuracy play a very important role.
