Connecticut Weather: 'Wild Storm' Moving In Today

Watches and warnings have been issued for Connecticut in advance of the powerful storm moving into the state today.

A 'wild storm' will be arriving tonight in Connecticut and wind gusts in the state could exceed 60 mph at times, according to the National Weather Service and local meteorologists. NBC Connecticut Meteorologist Ryan Hanrahan said, "There is the possibility of gusts as high as hurricane force near the shoreline. Tree and power line damage is likely."

Rain and flooding are also a concern, but the biggest concern is the damaging wind in the forecast. WTNH News 8 Meteorologist Gil Simmons said the worst of the weather will be confined from 9 p.m. to 2 a.m. in Connecticut.

Watches and warnings are posted for all of Connecticut on Sunday. A High Wind Warning is in effect for all of Connecticut as the National Weather Service is predicting wind gusts could exceed 75 mph at the immediate coast and 60 mph is possible in inland sections. Two to four inches of rain is also forecast and there could be higher amounts. A Flash Flood Watch is also in effect for the state.
