"The Boys and Girls Club was then contacted by the fund’s money manager and were told they had not received the expected monies," police said. "It was then realized that the bank that was listed in the wire transfer request was not the normal bank that was used by these funds, and they contacted the police."
Greenwich Det. First Grade James Manning was assigned to the case as he is a task force officer with the Department of Homeland Security, Financial Crimes Investigation.
Following a yearlong investigation involving approximately 10 search warrants for various financial institutions, internet sites and wireless providers, Manning identified Marcoccio as a suspect and obtained an arrest warrant.
Police said Manning was able to get "a significant portion" of the stolen money back to the club.
