Woman Charged With Engaging Police In Pursuit: Greenwich PD

GREENWICH, CT — A Stamford woman was arrested last week after police said she failed to stop for officers and fled in her car on March 16.

Cindy Palmeri, 57, was arrested on a warrant that charges her with operating a motor vehicle under suspension; traveling unreasonably fast; disobeying the signal of an officer; engaging police in pursuit; failure to drive in a proper lane; failure to obey a stop sign; and operating a motor vehicle without a license.

Lt. Martin O'Reilly of the Greenwich Police Department said around 9:15 p.m. on March 16, a woman, later identified as Palmeri, was driving in the area of Hamilton Avenue and Artic Street in the Chickahominy section of Greenwich when she failed to maintain a proper lane of travel and almost hit a police car.

Police tried pulling the woman over with lights and sirens, but she drove down a dead-end road, came back out and fled at a high rate of speed, O'Reilly said.

"Officers found out who the registered owner was and contacted the police department were she lives," O'Reilly said. "They were familiar with her and were investigating an incident with her from earlier in the evening."

Attempts to get in contact with Palmeri were ignored, and an arrest warrant was developed, O'Reilly added.

Palmeri was given a $25,000 bond, which she was able to post with the help of a bondsman, according to her arrest report. She's scheduled to appear in court April 13.
