Woman Charged In Theft Of Over $25K Worth Of Handbags: Greenwich PD

GREENWICH, CT — A 37-year-old woman turned herself in at Greenwich Police Headquarters last week on a warrant that stems from the 2023 theft of over $25,000 worth of high-end handbags and other items from a store in Central Greenwich, according to police.

Kristine Duarte, of Hyde Park, Mass., was arrested on May 6 and charged in Greenwich with first-degree larceny, conspiracy to commit third-degree burglary, conspiracy to commit second-degree criminal mischief, and interfering with officers/resisting, according to her arrest report.

Citing an arrest warrant, Greenwich Time reported that two burglars broke into the store and snatched over a dozen bags, along with a valuable eyeglass case and a necklace worth $8,000.

Police used security footage, rental car information and cell phone records to link Duarte to Greenwich on the date the crime occurred, Greenwich Time reported.

Last month, Duarte was arrested in Providence, RI, on a Providence Superior Court bench warrant, and the warrant from Greenwich.
