YMCA of Greenwich’s Gala Raises Over $490,000 to Expand Programs

GREENWICH, CT — The YMCA of Greenwich hosted its annual gala on Friday, May 9, at the Greenwich Country Club, raising over $490,000 to support critical programs and financial assistance for the community. More than 250 guests attended the event, themed Casino Royale: An Evening in Las Vegas, where they enjoyed dinner, casino-style entertainment, and the opportunity to support the Y’s mission of strengthening the community.

Connecticut Governor Ned Lamont was honored during the evening for his commitment to public service and longstanding support of community organizations across the state, including the YMCA. A former YMCA of Greenwich board member and Greenwich selectman, Governor Lamont has championed initiatives that align closely with the Y’s work including expanding access to childcare and summer enrichment, supporting youth mental health programs, and promoting water safety. Senator Richard Blumenthal also joined the celebration to show his support.

At the gala, more people had the chance to learn about the work we’re doing—from water safety and youth development to chronic disease prevention and accessible childcare. Every dollar raised helps us grow that work and ensure the Y remains a place for everyone.”

The Gala’s Premier Sponsor, Lugano Diamonds, played a pivotal role in the event’s success, hosting the exclusive kickoff party in January and donating an exquisite pair of $11,800 hoop earrings for the evening’s opportunity prize. The earrings featured 24 rose-cut diamonds totaling 2.45 carats, set in 18K white gold. Only 250 tickets were sold for $100 each, and the drawing was open to all, regardless of event attendance.

Guests also enjoyed both a silent and live auction, which together brought in over $50,000. The Gala’s success was made possible thanks to the dedication of the Gala Committee, a group of passionate volunteers who spend months planning every detail. This year’s event was co-chaired by Stacy Pacifico, Zeina Pike, Jennifer Galbally, and Katherine Elms.

Funds raised through the gala support the YMCA Annual Campaign, which ensures that everyone, regardless of their financial circumstances, has access to the Y’s membership and critical programs. In 2024, the YMCA of Greenwich awarded over $460,000 in financial assistance and scholarships. The annual campaign also supports programs like Safety Around Water, Running Start, camp and childcare scholarships, chronic disease prevention, and countless events and services that uplift the community.
