YMCA Of Greenwich Sending 15 Players to USA National Team Selection Camps

YMCA Greenwich Aquatics H20 Polo Players Selected for USA National Team Selection Camps

The YMCA’s Greenwich Aquatics Water Polo Teams had fifteen players selected to attend this year’s USA National Team Selection Camps.

In early March thirty-seven athletes from the YMCA’s Greenwich Aquatics Water Polo Team traveled to California to compete in the ODP (Olympic Development Program) USA Water Polo National Championships. The Championship included the top 1,300 players from every state across the country, all vying for spots on various USA Water Polo National Teams.

Based on performance during Championship matches, 20% of the top-tier athletes competing from all over the country were selected for the National Training Camps. Of the players selected from the entire northeast over 80% of the girls and 50% of the boys were from YMCA of Greenwich Aquatics!

Athletes selected from the Championship will move on to the National Team Selection Camps, which will take place in Southern California this May. Greenwich Aquatics is proud to have another strong presence at the selection camps as the one of the leading Water Polo teams on the east coast. With a focus on fostering a strong sense of teamwork and dedication, both boys and girls teams have had the opportunity compete in top-tier matches around the country.

Founded more than 99 years ago in 1916, the YMCA is the largest community-based membership organization in Greenwich. Part of a well-known YMCA national network, the Greenwich Y has 5400 members.
