Victim IDed In Fatal 2-Car Crash On Groton's Gold Star Highway

Police said the crash happened Friday on Route 184 between Buddington Road and Gungywamp roads.

GROTON, CT — A woman is dead following a two-car crash that closed a portion of the Gold Star Highway near Groton on Friday, according to authorities and a report.

Groton police said the crash happened shortly before 6:25 p.m. on Route 184 between Buddington Road and Gungywamp roads. According to authorities, the driver of a Ford Explorer — identified by police as 30-year-old Krystal Linski of Mystic — was traveling eastbound on the Gold Star Highway when the SUV left the road and struck a metal guardrail.

According to police, the Explorer traveled back onto the road and across the east and westbound traffic lanes before hitting a Chevy Silverado traveling in the opposite direction.

Linski was pronounced dead at the scene, police said.

Police said the driver of the Silverado, a 37-year-old Ledyard woman, and her 9-year-old daughter were taken to the hospital with serious injuries. According to authorities, the girl was taken to Yale's New Haven Children's Hospital where she is in critical condition.
