$1 Million Powerball Winner Sold At Groton Store: CT Lottery

GROTON, CT — A Powerball ticket worth $1 million was sold at a Groton establishment recently. The winning number was selected in Tuesday night's drawing.
CT Lottery posted on Facebook: "Someone woke up with a million reasons to be happy this morning! Congrats to the lucky player who purchased a ONE MILLION dollar winning Powerball ticket in Groton for last night's drawing."
The lucky ticket was sold at the Fort Hill Citgo station in Groton.

The winning numbers were 5-8-9-17-41. The winner has until Jan. 13 to claim the prize.
For the $1 million prize, players have to match five numbers. The odds of winning this prize are 1 in 11.6 million.

The Powerball jackpot has climbed over $1 billion. The odds of winning the jackpot are 1 in 292 million, according to CT Lottery.
Other large unclaimed prizes include $365,000 a Year for Life won on a Lucky for Life ticket sold last year in Greenwich which expires Aug. 31 and a $124,907 prize won on a $5 Stacks of Ca$h Progressive ticket sold in Old Greenwich that expires Jan. 14.
