2 Charged In Groton Car Burglary: Police

Two men were charged for burglarizing cars following a foot pursuit Tuesday night, according to police.

GROTON, CT — Two men were arrested on car burglary charges following a foot pursuit by police in Groton late Tuesday night, according to police. Police received a 911 call at 11:06 p.m. reporting that two men were breaking into vehicles in the Village of Noank section of Groton.

Police responded and found the two men in dark clothing running away. An officer pursued the suspects on foot, telling them to stop and that he was a police officer.

The suspects ran behind a home, then jumped over a fence and onto the home's rear pool deck, according to police. The officer pursued the suspects behind the home where he caught one of them and ordered the other suspect to get on the ground. Both were taken into custody.

The officer suffered minor injuries in the pursuit.

The two men charged were Ryley Rustic, 20, of Noank, and Christian Cyr, 18, of Noank. Both were charged with third-degree burglary, sixth-degree larceny, interfering with a police officer, and second-degree breach of peace.

Their bond was set at $5,000 each and they are scheduled to appear in court May 10.
