2 Displaced As Fire Breaks Out At Groton Duplex: Report
Firefighters battled the blaze at a Groton duplex Sunday evening.
GROTON, CT — A fire damaged a home in Groton on Sunday evening, fire officials said.
Crews responded to a report of a possible structure fire at a Midway Oval duplex just before 5 p.m., according to Poquonnock Bridge Professional Firefighters Local 2704.
They arrived to find heavy smoke coming from a one-story duplex. Residents were able to escape without injury, according to The Day of New London.

The fire resulted in significant damage to one of the units. Firefighters were able to quickly bring the blaze under control to prevent it from spreading to the other part of the duplex, The Day reported.
Several other fire departments and paramedics provided mutual aid.

Two people were displaced by the fire and are being assisted by the American Red Cross.
