2 Injured, Extricated From Overturned Car In Mystic Crash: Police
Two people were injured in a single-car crash early Sunday morning.

GROTON, CT — Police are investigating a single-car crash that resulted in two people being injured and trapped under an overturned car. The Groton Emergency Communications Center received a 911 call reporting a wreck in the area of Starr Lane north of Clift Lane in the Mystic section of Groton at 12:57 a.m. Sunday, according to a Town of Groton police statement.
Police and firefighters from several area departments responded. They found two people trapped inside the vehicle, a 2016 BMW 320.
The driver, Jacob Nash, 31, of New York City, was semiconscious, alert, and trapped partially trapped under the overturned car. He was transported via Life Star to Hartford Hospital for treatment of injuries.

The passenger, Nancy Dominguez, 25, of West Babylon, NY, was conscious and alert but trapped in the overturned car. She was stabilized and transported to Lawrence & Memorial Hospital for further treatment.
An investigation found that the BMW had been traveling north on Clift Lane approaching the intersection with Starr Street at a high rate of speed, according to police. The car crossed through the intersection and continued north on Starr Lane, a gravel road.

The driver lost control of the car on the gravel road, fishtailed, and left the road. The car hit a boulder on the left shoulder of Starr Lane, went airborne, then tumbled over, hitting a utility pole and coming to rest upside down on top of a rock retaining wall, according to police.
Emergency personnel extricated both the driver and passenger.
Members of the Groton Police Department, Stonington Police Department, Ledyard Police Department, Old Mystic Fire Department, Mystic Fire Department, North Stonington Fire Department, Electric Boat Ambulance, Groton Ambulance, Mystic River Ambulance, L&M Medic, and Life Star responded to the scene.
Units from the Town of Groton, Ledyard, and Stonington police departments' accident reconstruction teams are investigating the accident.
