2017 Municipal Election: Groton City Voters Select Mayor, Council

Residents will vote for mayor and more Monday in the Groton City biennial municipal election​​; here's what you need to know.

GROTON, CT - Residents will vote for mayor and more Monday in the Groton City biennial municipal election, the New London Day reported. Members will also be elected to the Groton City Council that same day.

Republican town councilor Harry Watson is running against deputy mayor and Democrat Keith Hendrick in the first contested race for the seat since 2013, according to the New London Day. Voters will also be able to elect six members to the Groton City Council, as well as City Clerk. (To sign up for Groton breaking news alerts and more, click here.)

While a number of Republicans and Democrats are vying for council positions, City Clerk and Democrat Deb Patrick is seeking re-election unopposed, the New London Day reported. Polling places will be open until 8 p.m. at West Side Middle School and the Groton Municipal Building.
