4 Groton Stores Fined For Tobacco, E-Cigarette Violations: Police
Police recently conducted inspections of local retailers for compliance with state law on the sale of tobacco and e-cigarettes.
GROTON, CT — Four establishments were fined following compliance checks of stores selling tobacco products and electronic cigarettes, according to a Town of Groton police statement.
Police conducted inspections at 13 establishments Tuesday. Four of those violated state law for selling tobacco or e-cigarettes to those under 21 years old.
The clerks at the stores in violation were issued a first-time infraction of $300.

Police said the following retailers failed to comply with the law:
- Midway Mini Mart – 33 Fort Hill Road
- Mobil – 1004 Poquonnock Road
- Luxe Smoke and Vape – 747 Long Hill Road
- Henny Penny Shell – 294 Route 12
Retailers are required by state law to request photo ID for anyone who appears to be under 30 years old when selling tobacco or e-cigarettes.

The following retailers were found to be compliant with the law and did not have any violations:
- Citgo – 182 Fort Hill Road
- Liquor Palace – 116 Fort Hill Road
- Henny Penny Shell – 106 Fort Hill Road
- The Grape Vine – 766 Long Hill Road
- Dollar General – 756 Long Hill Road
- Full of Spirit Package Store – 682 Long Hill Road
- Walgreens – 441 Long Hill Road
- Sunoco – 731 Long Hill Road
- Express/Gulf – 208 Route 12
