Many openings are to fill vacancies or meet program mandates, particularly in special education, rather than adding brand-new budgeted positions.

(theday.com) — Buckeye’s fuel terminal on Eastern Point Road in Groton has again missed out on federal infrastructure funding, leaving its long‑term future uncertain and raising concerns about fuel prices and truck traffic. State and local leaders are now racing to reapply for a June 1 grant round, stressing the terminal’s role in home heating oil, ferry fuel, and Groton’s working waterfront.    

• President Trump arrived in Groton before Coast Guard Academy graduation (theday.com) — Air Force One touched down at Groton-New London Airport as President Donald Trump arrived to speak at the Coast Guard Academy graduation, drawing early-morning crowds of local onlookers.
