GROTON, CT — The owner of a local golf course restaurant has died. Brian Thomson passed away May 13 at the age of 69.
Thomson was the owner of Brian's Just Off the Green, also known as Par 4 Restaurant, at Shennecossett Golf Course.
The "beloved local restaurant [is] known for its seafood and welcoming atmosphere, and later served as a distributor with Food Dynamics," according to Thomson's obituary.
"Brian built a career defined by his love of food and people," the obituary reads.
Thomson was born and raised in New London. He was a lifelong Groton resident and graduated from Robert E. Fitch Senior High School in 1974.
He then went on to study at the Johnson & Wales School of Culinary Arts in Providence, "where he found his calling," according to his obituary.
Thomson was also "especially committed to providing employment to disabled and disadvantaged individuals, offering them not only a livelihood but a true sense of belonging."

Par 4 Restaurant is open daily for lunch or dinner. The eatery overlooks the golf course's 18th hole and has views of the Long Island Sound.
The menu features "casual cuisine with daily specials and fresh seafood," according to the restaurant's website. Par 4 offers event catering and has a full bar with an extensive beer and wine list.
