GROTON, CT — The City of Groton Police Department has issued advice for drivers ahead of the fireworks display scheduled for this weekend.
The fireworks will be Saturday, July 11, at 9:20 p.m. on the Thames River opposite New London City pier.
Thames Street and portions of Monument Street and Park Avenue will close to vehicular traffic and become a pedestrian mall from 6 p.m. until the conclusion of the fireworks, police said.
Parking will not be allowed on Thames Street beginning at 8 a.m. and on surrounding streets at 2 p.m. Vehicles in violation will be towed.
Intersecting streets to Thames Street between Bridge Street and Allen Street will be barricaded starting at 6 p.m.
