GROTON, CT — A pedestrian was struck and killed in a hit-and-run crash in Groton, according to police.
Emergency dispatchers received several 911 calls regarding a motor vehicle accident on Toll Gate Road near Crawford Lane at 11:15 p.m. Friday.
A car had hit a pedestrian and fled, according to Town of Groton police.
Officers arrived and found the victim lying in the road being treated by first responders. A witness to the accident, who is also an EMT, provided CPR.
The victim was identified as Dustin Tanta-Quidgeon, 39, of Uncasville.
Firefighters and paramedics provided medical aid, but the victim was declared dead at the scene of the accident.
Witnesses said that the car involved in the crash was a black SUV.
Toll Gate Road was closed to traffic as the crash was under investigation.
