Two days of problems for Mystic drawbridge (theday.com) β Traffic and boating around Mystic were disrupted when the Mystic River Bascule Bridge malfunctioned for two days, at times stuck closed and later briefly stuck open, prompting bulletins from Stonington and Groton police. The closure stranded visiting boats, delayed the tall ship Kalmar Nyckel's repairs at Mystic Seaport, and forced cancellation of Sabino steamboat cruises before the bridge returned to service Wednesday night.

Thames River high school football preview 2026 (trumbulltimes.com) β Thames River co-op football will play its home games at Grasso Tech in Groton this fall, with a senior-heavy offensive line and new head coach Will Henton aiming to "put tech football on the map." After a tough 2-8 season, the Crusaders return 13 starters, expect a strong running game, and open their 2026 schedule on Sept. 11.
