Groton Pier Project Gets $3.5 Million In State Funding (patch.com) โ Groton has secured $3.5 million in state bonding to demolish and rebuild Griswold Pier, the city's only public fishing pier on Shore Avenue. The project, now in the conceptual phase, will restore safe public access to the Thames River and Long Island Sound for fishing and picnicking, with construction expected to begin within six months and finish by October 2028.

With abundant bait, active stripers, porgies, sea bass, and late-season fluke on nearby reefs, local boaters have plenty of options close to home as summer patterns slowly give way to fall action.
