Located on Mitchell Street, Thames Street, and Clarence B. Sharp Highway, the devices aim to slow traffic and improve safety, with police stressing that the focus is on protecting the community rather than generating tickets.
2. Groton Pier Project Gets $3.5 Million In State Funding (patch.com) — Groton has secured $3.5 million in state bonding to demolish and rebuild Griswold Pier, the city's only public fishing pier on Shore Avenue. The project, now in the conceptual phase, will restore safe public access to the Thames River and Long Island Sound for fishing and picnicking, with construction expected to begin within six months and finish by October 2028.
3. Is your child's car seat installed correctly? National data shows nearly half are not (wtnh.com) — Groton parents can get their child car seats checked for free when Groton Ambulance hosts a safety clinic at the Groton Library on Wednesday, Sept. 23, from 10 a.m. to noon. The statewide campaign highlights that nearly half of car seats are installed incorrectly, and appointments are encouraged by emailing Kelsey Gomes for personalized help ensuring your child rides safely.
4. Connecticut Fishing Report- September 17, 2026 (onthewater.com) — Anglers around Groton are seeing a strong run of false albacore moving in from the east, part of unusually healthy fall fishing across Connecticut waters. With abundant bait, active stripers, porgies, sea bass, and late-season fluke on nearby reefs, local boaters have plenty of options close to home as summer patterns slowly give way to fall action.
