Scam Callers Spoofing Groton Police Phone Number

GROTON, CT — Police are warning the public after receiving reports about callers falsely telling residents that they are law enforcement.

The City of Groton Police Department has received multiple reports of scammers calling residents while claiming to be representatives from Homeland Security or Chief of Police David Burton.

These fraudsters are spoofing the department's non-emergency line so it appears on caller ID, falsely telling residents they have an active warrant for their arrest.

️ REMINDER: The City of Groton Police Department will NEVER request or demand payment over the phone for an arrest warrant.

If you receive a suspicious call claiming to be from the police department or a federal agency:

Do not provide personal or financial information.

Hang up.
