GROTON, CT — New owners are taking over at Bennedito's Grinders after 40 years.

Last week, owner Rick Sager said he was leaving "with mixed emotions" after 40 years.

"I will miss interacting with so many of you who I have grown to know over the years and generations but I am excited to start a new chapter in Florida with my wife and dogs and I am happy to have time to spend with all of our kids and grandkids from around the country," he wrote in a recent post.

He wished new owners Allen and Leigh Munton "all the best and incredible success."

The Waterford couple told The Day that they plan to keep the takeout-only Italian eatery the same, including keeping employee Karina Parra.

Sager said of Parra, "You are family and I want to thank you for your years of loyalty and hard work. I couldn't have done it without you."

The deli offers a classic selection of grinders from salami to tuna salad to meatball and sausage as well as salads and sides.
