Re: A Help Request...... for Tom Lewis
Notes from the Old Noank Jail.....by Ed Johnson
Normally, as many of you know, I don't write articles of this nature. For obvious reasons below, I have made an exception because of the need.
Tom Lewis lived in Noank on Potter Court in Noank with his family for many years, serving as an active member of the Noank Baptist Church and Noank Volunteer Fire Department. Tom was a firefighter, driver and EMT for Noank for many years, as well as an EMT/Driver for Mystic River Ambulance. He also served with the Old Mystic and Groton Long Point Fire Departments before moving to Groton and then more recently to Montville.
Sadly, Tom has experienced financial difficulties involving what has become a very serious medical issue that has interfered with any possibility of regular employment. He is currently in the process of preparing for a possible lung transplant operation and is already now on portable Oxygen full time.
The Noank Fire Company is assisting Tom obtain direct individual donations for his living expenses until other financial resources become a reality, including Social Security & Disability, which is a long process. They ask for support to help him get over a financial hurdle so he can focus his attention on trying to get well.
The process will be as follows:
a) Please make out your checks or money orders directly to "Thomas M. Lewis"
b) The envelopes should be addressed as:
Tom Lewis
c/o Noank Volunteer Fire Co.
10 Ward Avenue
P.O. Box 9493
Noank, CT 06340-9493
c) You may mail to the above address or drop off your envelope at the Noank firehouse directly if someone is available to receive it.
d) Although your donation will not be tax deductible, you will receive a written acknowledgement, on behalf of Tom Lewis, from the Fire Company.
Should you have any further questions, you may send an E-mail to me at EdwardR.Johnson72@gmail.com on this subject.
Thank you for reading this. We hope you can help.
