BMW on Fire; "Occupied BMW" Shot at in New London: Police

Shots were fired in the early morning hours of April 11. Groton Police located the suspect's vehicle shortly after the alleged shooting.

New London Emergency Communications Center received a 911 call reporting a car fire near 40 Crystal Ave. on Friday, April 10.

A witness told police they saw a Hispanic man running from the 2004 BMW and toward Fulton Park, New London Deputy Chief Peter Reichard said.

Acting Fire Marshal Vern Skau and the New London Fire Department responded to the scene. The investigation is ongoing. Anyone with information is asked to call the New London Police Department at 860-442-4444.

Shooting in New London

New London Emergency Communications Center received a 911 call at approximately 1:21 a.m. Saturday, April 11, reporting several gunshots in the area of 419 Montauk Ave.

Responding officers found an occupied BMW that was shot at and victims were able to provided a description of the suspect’s vehicle, New London Deputy Chief Peter Reichard said.

Groton City Police Department officers located that vehicle shortly thereafter. The victim’s car and the suspect’s car were taken to the New London Police impound.

Members of the Investigative Division assisted in the case. Anyone with information is asked to call the New London Police Department at 860-442-4444.

No word yet on whether the BMWs involved were the same one. Patch will update with more information as it becomes available.
