Official statement from Gales Ferry Volunteer Fire Company

At approximately 0315 hours, the Ledyard Police Emergency Communications Center started receiving multiple 911 calls about a fire under the deck of 15 Ramblewood Drive.

Upon arrival, units from Gales Ferry Volunteer Fire Company and Ledyard Fire Company District #1 found heavy fire in the rear of the structure and started a working fire assignment.

Units from Navy Region Mid-Atlantic Fire & Emergency Services responded mutual aid along with the Mohegan Tribal F.A.S.T. Team and Ledyard Volunteer Emergency Squad.

Ramblewood Drive is a non-hydrant protected area so a Tanker Task Force was started with units from Center Groton, Poquetanuck, Preston City, North Stonington, East Great Plain, Griswold, and Voluntown Fire Departments.

The roof collapsed early on during fire attack and the operation became defensive (or strictly exterior) from that point until the fire was extinguished. No injuries were reported by any occupants or firefighters.

The American Red Cross was on scene assisting the residents and the Ledyard Fire Marshal is investigating.
