Child Left in 103-Degree Car in Groton: Police

Two New London residents were arrested after allegedly leaving a child in a hot car at a Groton shopping plaza.

Two New London residents were arrested after allegedly leaving a child in a hot car during a visit to a shopping plaza, WFSB reported.

The 8-year-old child was in the vehicle for approximately 45 minutes, in the parking lot of 664 Long Hill Rd. in Groton.

The temperature in the inside of the car reached 103-114 degrees and two of the car’s windows were opened, but not completely, according to police.

Arrests Made

The two people arrested are Ambiorix Rondon, 61, of 56 Anthony Rd., and Maria Rondon, 53, of the same address. They were charged with leaving an unattended child in a motor vehicle and risk of injury to a minor.

They were held on a $2,500 bond and issued a Monday, Aug. 11, court date.
