Coronavirus Groton: Another Case Confirmed

Groton has two confirmed coronavirus cases.

GROTON, CT — The Ledge Light Health District is reporting an additional COVID-19 case in Groton.

The confirmed case is a 22-year-old female. There was one previous case. New London has three confirmed cases.

"Positive cases of COVID-19 within our jurisdiction have been expected, as community transmission of the virus continues to occur in Connecticut," The health district said in a statement. "LLHD staff will assure that all appropriate [Department of Public Health] protocols regarding positive cases and potential contacts are followed."

There are 3,824 laboratory-confirmed coronavirus cases in Connecticut as of Thursday with 112 deaths and 827 hospitalizations, according to DPH. New London County is among the least-infected areas in Connecticut, but cases are starting to grow. There have been 29 cases in New London County and one death related to coronavirus.

Fairfield County continues to be the hardest-hit area is 2,132 of Connecticut's cases.
