Counterfeit Travelers Checks Result in Waterford Police Investigation
Police are investigating the use of counterfeit checks at a Waterford Stop & Shop and said similar attempts were made in Groton.

The Waterford Police Department is investigating an attempted larceny, as well as the passing of counterfeit Travelers Checks, at the Stop & Shop store in Waterford.
The incident took place at approximately 10:15 p.m. Tuesday, August 5. The suspects also made similar attempts in Groton, Waterford police said.
“We are attempting to identify the suspect in this picture, who later left as a passenger in a late model grey colored Infinity SUV bearing New York registration plates GMS-2613,” Waterford Police said via Facebook. “We are following up on the vehicle’s registered owner, but do not believe it is the person in this picture.”

Anyone with information on the suspect or location of the vehicle is asked to call the Waterford Police Department at 860-442-9451 or email Officer Tidd at Otidd@waterfordpolice.org with the reference number #2014-01547.
