Electric Boat To Hire 5K Workers In 2023: Report
The submarine manufacturer will hire over 5,000 workers this year as the company is expanding rapidly.
GROTON, CT — General Dynamics Electric Boat is expanding rapidly and is expected to hire more than 5,000 workers this year, according to FOX 61. The Groton-based firm is the country's largest submarine maker.
The company received $13 billion from Congress, and the U.S. Navy gave $5 billion back last year to build five new submarines.
The new Columbia class submarines are anticipated to be completed in 2030 with the lead ship sent to the U.S. Navy in four years. The submarines will be the largest in U.S. history at 560 feet long and 21,000 tons.
