Classic Cinema: Angels in the Outfield

The Library will screen the film, Angels in the Outfield, on Tuesday, March 13, at 2 p.m.  An abusive manager is blamed for the Pittsburgh Pirates' losing streak, but then he begins hearing the voice of an angel promising him help for the team if he will mend his ways.  At the same time, an orphan girl, who is a Pirates fan and has been praying for the team, begins noticing angels on the ballfield. Soon after, the Pirates start winning, but can the manager control his temper long enough for the Pirates to win the pennant? Paul Douglas, Janet Leigh and Keenan Wynn star in this 1951 movie.
