Groton Public Library Book Club

The Book Club will discuss The Thousand Autumns of Jacob de Zoet by David Mitchell on Wednesday, December 14, at 7 p.m.  Mitchell’s historical novel takes place in Nagasaki, Japan in 1799 where Dutch clerk Jacob de Zoet hopes to make his fortune helping uncover theft for the Dutch East Indies Company.  He falls in love with disfigured midwife Orito, a samurai's daughter, but treachery awaits both Jacob and Orito.
